Softlanding Subsidy
After arriving in Sapporo, you can apply for Sapporo Softlanding Subsidy to up to 50% of initial expenses (MAX. of JPY ¥300,000).
*Not applicable to consumption tax or utility bill
*All payment must be confirmed with documentations such as receipts
You are eligible to apply if…
- You have a business plan that is considered “startup”
- You are currently residing in Sapporo City
- You are Incorporating a company before March 31st of the next fiscal year*
- You are registering your office in Sapporo City
*ex. if you apply by December 2024 → Incorporation before March 31st of 2026
If you apply by August 2025 → Incorporation before March 31st of 2027

What Are Included in the Coverage?

Flight ticket from your home country to Shin-Chitose airport.

Temporary housing until you sign a long-term housing agreement. (Airbnb, hostel, shared apartment or guest house etc.)
Verifiable document(s) that show:
- Length of your stay
- Address (including building/business name & room number)
- Your name (guest names)
- Receipts or payment records to the temporary housing
Including key money, gurantee fee, and commision to the agent. (security deposit is NOT covered.)

Yes, you can apply for this Softlanding Subsidy with your co-founder, but the coverage will be maximum of JPY ¥300,000 per company.

Right after you receive your “proof letter” from Hokkaido Government to apply for your Certificate of Eligibility (CoE). Please kindly note that any expenses spent BEFORE the approval of Softlanding Subsidy WILL NOT covered.

The selection process for Startup Visa and this Softlanding Subsidy is different, so even if you obtain a Startup Visa, you may not get Softlanding Subsidy
